Dear Class, I am looking forward to meeting you at the satellite remote sensing class. There is a web site that has all the lectures and assignments. It may still have some inaccurate dates. http://topex.ucsd.edu/rs There are two things that can be done this week prior to the first meeting. 1) We will use a book that is listed on the web site “Physical Principles of Remote Sensing”. You can use either the third or second edition. A pdf copy is OK this year. Amazon has used books for < $20. The UCSD bookstore should carry copies at the full price. 2) This would be a good time to improve your MATLAB programming skills. We have a computer lab at SIO with MATLAB installed. Susheel Adusumilli is the TA for the class and will be teaching the weekly labs. In addition UCSD has full access to MATLAB facilities. To get started with MATLAB do the following: a)Go to the following links and create an account at MathWorks. https://acms.ucsd.edu/services/software/available-software/matlab.html https://matlab.ucsd.edu/student.html b)Login to Complimentary MATLAB Training for University of California San Diego Complete the following on-line courses: MATLAB Fundamentals MATLAB Programming Techniques MATLAB for Data Processing and Visualization See you all next Tuesday, April, 3 David
